Product Development Engineering
After having worked at two large toy companies (Hasbro and Mattel), being at Alpha Group US was very different since I was one person out of approximately 45 total in the US office. Working at a small company meant that I had to wear lots of hats! - my job responsibilities were the same as I had experienced before and more.
When I communicated with the team in Asia, I communicated directly with the team in China, unlike other toy companies that have a team in Hong Kong as the middle point. I played a big part in collaborating with the engineers in China to find the right vendors for making models as well as vendors for mass production. Additionally, there were instances when issues arose that were not something typical for a Product Development Engineer to solve, but due to the nature of the company and still developing processes, I took the initiative to find the appropriate points of contact and either relaying the information to them or attempting a solution myself with the guidance of my supervisor.
The Product Development Process at Alpha Group US is the third one that I am exposed to within the toy industry and it reassured me that I am capable of adapting to any type of company and delivering well thought out solutions in a quick, fast-paced environment.
